Prayer Focus Today

8/9/2026

Tensions between the United States and Iran remain high. Leaders continue to look for peaceful solutions, but serious military threats are still present. President Trump has suggested short-term talks through Oman to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important shipping routes. At the same time, Iranian military leaders have warned that they could attack U.S. warships.

The 60-day ceasefire ends today, with very little settled. Please pray that peaceful resolutions can be negotiated despite the end of the ceasefire.

Because of these risks, the U.S. State Department is still urging Americans traveling overseas to remain alert and exercise caution.

Heavenly Father,
We come before You with heavy hearts as tensions between the United States and Iran remain high. Lord, We ask You to bring wisdom where there is uncertainty, and restraint where there is anger.

We pray for the leaders of the United States, Iran, and every nation involved in these tensions. Give them wisdom beyond their own understanding. Turn their hearts toward workable solutions.

Father, we especially pray for the Strait of Hormuz and the ships, sailors, and military personnel who may be placed in harm’s way. Protect those who are serving and traveling in this region. Keep them from danger and bring them safely home to their families.

Lord, as the ceasefire comes to an end, we ask that peace would not come to an end with it. Open doors for meaningful negotiations and new opportunities for peaceful resolution. Where human leaders cannot see a way forward, we ask you to make a way.

We place this situation into Your hands and trust You to work even when we cannot see what You are doing.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
