Martin Luther King Jr. was a Baptist minister and a nationally recognized social activist who led the civil rights movement in the United States from the mid-1950s until his assassination in 1968. He moved the whole nation with his on-point message of non-violence and led civic protests against segregation. In his passionate sermons and speeches, he influenced the heart of the people. Without violence, he became an influencer in his time. On this day of rememberence we honor his life, his passion, and the effect that his "I Have a Dream" speech still holds on us as Americans even to this day.
